Lady Bank Manager Arrested at UP for Rs 3.7 Crore Bank Fraud at Guwahati
TNI News Service
Webdesk, TNI Guwahati 7th August, 2017: Yesterday a Lady Bank Manager of IndusInd Bank in Guwahati was arrested by Assam Police from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad city after she was on a run. She was alleged to siphon off about Rs. 3.70 crore from various bank accounts of customers in her branch at Paltan Bazar. This has raised questions about the loopholes in the back security systems. Her husband Mr. Sankar Sinha, a branch manager of IndusInd Bank at Gangtok was already arrested by the Police and is now in their custody at Paltan Bazar.
The whole incident came to light when a Guwahati Resident Dr. Biraj Goswami lodged a FIR at Paltan Bazar police station alleging some “Unknown Transactions” from his bank account of IndusInd Bank. He has lost Rs. 1.8 lakhs in the process. Today Olivia Dutta Choudhury was produced before a judge in Noida for her transit remand to Guwahati. According to the Guwahati Police Commissioner Mr. Hiren Chandra Nath, she was evading arrest for quite some time. At least 4 FIRs has lodged against her for a misappropriation of a sum of around Rs. 3.70 crores. Olivia was carrying a cash of Rs. 27 lakhs during the time of her arrest. According to the Police sources, this could be a tip of Ice-berg of the huge amount of money fraud done in the Guwahati private Banks.
